The virtual meeting will take the place of the previously cancelled All Hands meeting. The virtual session will focus on the initiative’s progress and the future Action Plan IV. Coastal Resilience Webinar Series

This training will be hosted by Shana Jones, J.D. from the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia and Thomas Ruppert, J.D. with Florida Sea Grant. As seas rise and coastal roads become more frequently inundated, they may reach a point that they are no longer practical to maintain. Decisions about how to move forward when the expense of maintaining the road seems too high have complicated legal considerations. In this webinar we will hear from Shana and Thomas as they discuss the various legal statutes that can influence a municipality’s options in these situations.

This training will be led by Ms. Renee Collini, the Program Coordinator for the Northern Gulf of Mexico Sentinel Site Cooperative.

Ms. Collini will discuss how the probabilities of each sea-level rise scenario can be used to bring intentionality into planning that considers sea-level rise. She will review factors to consider when developing risk tolerance, how different levels of risk tolerance connect to scenario likelihood, and share tips on how to turn a selected amount of sea-level rise into information about future conditions such as high tide or storm surge and what kinds of decisions that could inform.
